2018 Tennessee Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics

Hill Day

Event recap

We had a very successful Day in Nashville.  There were 82 people in attendance. There were a total of 35 visits with Tennessee Legislators.  Keith Barnes, the Director of Nutrition Advocacy for the TN Justice Center, shared information about the SNAP program in Tennessee, and Senator Watson spoke about what he does as the Chairman of Senate Finance Ways and Means Committee and Wellness Caucus and the importance of advocating for what we are passionate about. He reminded us that we are their bosses, and said "you choose people like me to be your eyes and ears" and need to make sure we respectfully talk with our Government officials about what’s important to our profession and for our community.

If you weren't able to come this year, please consider making it a priority next year!!!
